Aconitum napellus Album’ – 2026

Aconitum napellus Album is a striking white-flowered form of the traditional monkshood, valued for its tall spires of hooded blooms that provide elegance and structure to the late summer garden. Its pure white flowers stand in beautiful contrast against the backdrop of its dark green, deeply divided foliage, creating a luminous effect that brightens shaded borders and pairs well with richly coloured perennials. Flowering in midsummer, this variety brings sophistication and drama to mixed plantings.

Best grown in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, Aconitum napellus Album thrives in partial shade, though it can also tolerate full sun in cooler conditions. It is a hardy and long-lived perennial that requires little maintenance once established. Like other monkshoods, it is attractive to pollinators such as bees, making it ecologically valuable as well as ornamental. However, all parts of the plant are poisonous and should be handled with care.
