Lythrum Swirl’ – 2026

Lythrum salicaria Swirl is a striking perennial that adds a touch of elegance to any garden with its soft pink flower spikes. This cultivar of the native Purple Loosestrife features upright, clump-forming growth and lance-shaped green leaves. From midsummer to early autumn, it produces slender racemes of pale pink flowers that attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, enhancing the biodiversity of your garden. Ideal for moist, well-drained soils, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and is perfect for borders, water features, or naturalised areas.

This hardy plant is fully winter-hardy and will die back in autumn, re-emerging in spring. It prefers moist but well-drained soils and can tolerate clay, loam, or neutral to alkaline pH. Once established, it requires minimal maintenance and can self-seed freely, so removing faded flower spikes can help control its spread. Its combination of attractive foliage and vibrant blooms ensures it stands out in any landscape.
